Playing a horn to bring together deer is known as Shikayose. More than 100 deer gather by the music. It is a winter event every day from 28th of Jan till 6th of Mar in Nara park.
The event began in 1892, originally the trumpet was played. Now the deer are trained as the music of the horn beckons them over the forest.

It was another year of considerable development for us. We welcomed a new family member and wonderful staff as well as so many repeaters from all over the world! It is just nothing other than the best compliment for us. On our 4th year we are planning to extend our house and service more comfortable and secure for the travellers. We very much look forward to welcome you to Oji!

Vidro
The other day, the owner of Nagasaki International Hostel AKARI (http://www.nagasaki-hostel.com/index.html) visited us. He gave us some uniqe gifts. The picture above is called Vidro. It's like a toy or an instrument. Vidro means glass in Portuguese. It is said in the end of Muromachi era, Portuguese people brought to Nagasaki, and tought how to make. By blowing air into the glass, it makes sounds. I couldn't do that though. I am curious to know how the sound like.

Yougendo Original Tshirt

We have our original Tshirt.
Our staffs are working in this shirt sometimes, and you can get it only here!
The design on the back is family crests. Family crests first appeared in Japan during the Heian period when aristocrats placed their favorite designs of plants and flowers on clothes and cow carriages. Ordinary people have been able to use family crests freely since the Meiji period.

You can find the family crests on the roof if you see carefully.
How many crests can you find?
